ABB Power Technologies, now part of Hitachi Energy, has expanded its U.S. operations with a new 137,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania, delivered by MGB Development Group. The facility serves as the U.S. headquarters for ABB’s high-voltage power technology products, strengthening its North American platform for critical grid infrastructure equipment.
The state-of-the-art plant manufactures high-voltage circuit breakers and related transmission technologies used in substations and power systems serving utility and industrial customers worldwide. Developed to meet increasing demand for modernized energy infrastructure, the facility enhances production efficiency, reduces lead times, and expands manufacturing capacity.
Purposefully configured as a dedicated production center for high-voltage grid technologies, the Mt. Pleasant facility is designed to optimize workflow, maximize floor space utilization, and improve productivity. The building integrates the structural capacity, specialized utilities, and advanced testing environments required for complex electrical equipment manufacturing while supporting long-term scalability.
MGB guided the project from initial site selection through delivery, integrating infrastructure planning, construction execution, and capital strategy while aligning the facility’s infrastructure and building systems with ABB’s long-term operational objectives.
Located within the greater Pittsburgh industrial corridor, the site provides strong workforce access and regional connectivity, positioning the plant for sustained growth within ABB’s global manufacturing platform.
The completion of the ABB Power Technologies facility reflects MGB’s ability to deliver large-scale industrial developments for globally recognized companies operating in critical infrastructure sectors.
